Hi,
its strange but I was just thinking about something similar, where I
needed to check the frequency and phase responce of an existing filter .
I have got the signal generator and scope to do this in hardware, ( and
ac voltmeter ) but
I wondered if I would be able to use a program such as Audacity [
available for PC, Mac and linux. ]
and then play back one track of either a sweep tone or noise.
( there seem to be sweep tones availabvle for free download )
and then record the output from the filter that could be analysed later on.
I know that there will be some latancy from the signal being played back
to being recorded, but I think it should work if your sound card allows
you to record and playback at the same time.
But I haven't had time to try this out.
has anyone else done this ?
regards Peter

P.S. more info about Audacity at
