If it works in a similar way as other BBD drivers I've seen, it works with 
negative logic, and the "overlap" is quite the opposite: a *gap*, to ensure 
that even with slighly lagged clock edges (from capacitive loading), the 
complementary transistors trees inside the BBD are never gated at the same 
time.
