[sdiy] Transformer question

Hi list. I have a transformer that's 15V-0-15V @
500mA, now i could easily make a +-12V @ 500mA supply
out of this but i don't need a negative rail - what i
do need is current. So, could i make this into two
separate +12V supplies @ 500mA each? I'm thinking that
the power and heat generated should be the same, no?
