That's great! I always wanted to do something like that for my synth.
My idea was to use the numerical tubes, and have the numbers flickering
away to the levels, but this makes more sense.
NOW, How about a dekatron tube that advances one step w/ each click of
the synth clock???

I have updated my site with a schematic and prototype pictures to drive
IN13 or
IN9 bargraphs tubes (russian nixies) with audio signals to get a
'plasma' vu
meter...
