The 3280 was so hard to get in Germany for many years, that I _always_ had
to work around it somehow!
Now I have a drawer of them, and have used them occasionally.
But I also started to make pcbs for all kind of stuff, and in order not to
sell PCBs that cannot be populated by those who buy them, I'm very reluctant
to use anything slightly exotic at all.
Curently making a layout for a stereo chorus without BBDs ... with a
Hammond-Linebox style tapped delay line and two scanners that work in
opposite direction, creating the 180deg out of phase modulation that's found
inside practically all Roland chorus circuits, including the famous
Dimension D.
And such a simple thing as the VCLFO will go without an OTA now, using a
good old discreete circuit.
The VCAs that are used for scanning will be made from discrete transitor
pairs anyway.
