[sdiy] More free stuff

I used to be into RC planes. I've got a couple of controllers, but I
don't think I could hack one up. They would make interesting
controllers, because one is self centering, and the other isn't on one
axis. Maybe I'll try to hook something up w/ the servo's, so that I can
remotely control the synth! If the output from the receiver was
analog, it would be perfect, but the rx is digital.

I used to have some old computer joysticks that would have been perfect.
Exactly what you are talking about w/ the switches for the centering..
and built on "range" adjustment. I haven't seen them in over 15 years.
Maybe they are still in a box at my parents house.

One solution is old discarded joysticks.

Some of them even have switches for each axis that will let you choose
between free or springloaded. Very nice. What's more is you'll likely
get a couple push buttons thrown in.

I don't know where to get new ones. I bought one off Ebay last year and
it's OK. I still prefer the old computer style joysticks.

Has anyone tried using the dual joystick transmitters that are used for
radio controlled airplanes?
