i built the blacet midi sync design and trust me
you don't want to use the divider section. the
4520 chip is 100% the wrong one to use if you
actually want your divided pulses in anything
like musically useful timing.
after numerous nonworking experiments i
eventually sent the raw 24ppqn output from the
4538 to a mildly hacked cgs36 divider board for
further divisions. the cgs board also adds the
necessary output buffering which is missing from
the blacet design.
the 4017 is very handy for regular division
stuff. the 4024 is all right too, but it's a
ripple and that makes me a bit nervous.
