I haven't used the part, but looking at the data sheets, it is safe to 
connect VL to V+.  However connecting GND to -15 violates the max V+ to 
GND spec (25V in the AD datasheet, interestingly the other data sheets 
from Maxim and Intersil spec it the other way GND to V- max 25V).

So connect as you describe, but GND to 0V.  The logic inputs are spec'd 
to operate to the rails so no problem there.
