I have a copy of the ISD "Application Notes and Design Manual" covering the 
ISD1000A series.  They claim a possible 10^5 to 10^6 write operations for 
the chip's lifetime

Please note that the lifespan is for the 1000 series, not the 4000 series... 
but I imagine they are similar.  Anyone know for sure?
