It should. The general consensus is that a press will apply the heat
and pressure more consistently and evenly accross the face of the PCB.
I've seen this in action, because I've gotten much better results
using a hand iron on PCBs small enough to be completely covered by the
iron (no more than 1.5" square). Like any home PCB process, you'll
probably have to make several experiments to get the heat and time
variables right.
