Connect a 100nF cap and 100 ohms resistor in series and hook this  
combo in parallel to the mains switch. If there's a dual pole mains  
switch you need two of these combos. Of course the voltage/power  
ratings of the cap and resistor must be appropriate. Use a "X"-cap,  
after all there's mains voltage across it when the device is powered  
off. These resistor/cap combos are also readily available in one  
case, they are called spark-supressors or something like that.
I remeber this worked wonders on the slow/fast switch of by DIY  
rotary cabinet many years ago.
