Thats how I make my front panels.  Then for my rackmount enclosures I use
PAIA Fracrak housings or Blacet ones if I'm feeling spendy.  At some point
I'll figure out a cheap way to make up threaded rails and stop buying these.

If I want something thats standalone, I use the Bud rackmount enclosures.
Search mouser.com for the CH14400 for an example of one of the series I
like.  These are aluminum enclosures.

I'll also make wooden cases for things.  I need to post a picture of my
still unfinished Box-o-Trix.  Front panel is made as described above, but I
made the box myself out of red oak and I think it looks mighty fine.  It
also made me a convert to the "textured paint" club.  I've always liked the
50's radio look and there is paint that hits that pretty close now...
