Probably just a standard miniature bayonet lamp.

If the 16' is working, I'd say the divider is okay. It would be the
contacts, or the switching circuitry that is not so healthy.

That would be the only solution. Perhaps even going to externally mounted
speakers.

Leave it hanging. The less external vibration it gets, the better. It sounds
like it is already optimal.
