[sdiy] Heat shrink tubing driving me crazy....

I have one of those pressure-filled lighters with the variable flame, that I
picked up from a swap meet for like $5. It is great for this sort of thing
- like for heatshrink on your sprinkler setup outside the house... Also
good for hot melt glue fixing things. I also have one of the (orange)
commercial heat guns. The gun is kind of weird in that it seems the heat
does not come straight out of the thing. I always have to play with its
orientation to finally get the heatshrink to shrink. At work we have a
different brand with a rotating knob for temperature that works much better.
You can use this to remove IC's and things from pc boards.

why is the lighter method not preferred? i always use it and it works
perfectly... you just need to pass the lighter under the heatshrink a
few times and it's done.
