[sdiy] cable for 3.5mm patch cables

My head is spinning. I have been browsing the mouser catalogue for a while trying to find some suitable cable to  make 3.5mm patch cables. I have a good stash of Doepfer patch cables, but I find myself wanting longer cables, and some with different connectors (bnc, 1/4", alligator clips etc...). Thus I would like to make some of my own.

I cannot seem to find the cable typically used for 3.5mm patch cables. 

Anybody have a part number or product they cold recommend?
