[sdiy] still missing Fred Nachbaur

I'm so glad his website is still up (kudos to whomever is maintaining it),
but I'm always reading Fred Nachbaur's projects - almost all of which are
very cool and clever - and want to send him an email comment or question and
remember that he's not with us anymore - not in a capacity to further
comment on his legacy anyway.

It's funny that two of the biggest inspirations for my new business:
(building awesome sounding guitar amps and effects using mostly junk) Fred
Nachbaur and Dirty Amps, are Scandanavian (Denmark and Sweden, respectively
I think...).

I've been lucky lately, finding old tube radios. Recently, it's been 50C5,
which I have my doubts about getting the kind of sound I can get from a
50L6GT (which I think is an awesome little tube), but I'm game. Ready to
make a few all 7-pinners - breaking away from my usual octal tubes. (And
SOME day I will make a couple of cool amps from the 3 vintage Mullard EL84's
that I have.

Now if I can just find a stash of dead Epiphone EP800 cabs with speakers,
I'd be set. I don't think I could do tweed myself. (Oh and I can never get
enough pots - not without using odd knobs anyways...)

cheers,
aa
