Most 8048's I've used were mask programmed at the chip makers. There was an
EPROM version called the 8748. I may still have one or two, and indeed
something that will write them.

To replace that 8048 you will need the exact part number.

I haven't done any looking, but I believe there were a number of hacks to
extract code from a mask programmed chip.
