Having just spent two days playing with the vintage 200 series Buchla
system at EMS, Stockholm, I'd have to put in a vote for their fixed
filter bank, the Programmable Spectral Processor Model 296, as well.
Totally luxurious, with programmable VCAs for each band as well as
separate outs and envelope followers for a rough vocoder kind of
application. The cutoff is amazingly steep, and the individual
VCAs/channel-outputs are absolutely perfect for formant synthesis, among
other things.
Curious? Here's some info straight from the source:

I would go to great lengths to have 4 of these in my studio!!!! (Or, as
some famous Hungarian aristocrat once quipped, "If only I could afford
the life I live!")
best,
d.
