I was stuck in vegas a couple of years ago and drove out to the desert
around area 51 and stayed there over night (in a nearby campground).  It
was great!  I heard about 15 sonic BA BOOM's and saw crazy lights in the
sky all night long.  
I'm not saying they were aliens or anything goofy like that.. but the
airforce uses that area for training and testing.  It was cool to see
the height of man's technology zipping around all night...

I did a little research when I got back, and I was lucky.. They happened
to be doing something called "red flag" that week, which is a big yearly
wargames thing they do, so I got more of a show than most would see, I
guess.

That night was certainly more fun than the rest of that week at the
vegas strip.
