[sdiy] good and free circuit designs to work with??

Hi everyone, I am wanting to build a synch based on
designs that are well respected and working that do
not need to be bought. 
I know there are several perfectly good options to be
picked up out there, but I want to make it without
that feeling that I am denying someone's pay....
So do people know where I might find some good
schematics or pcb layouts etc for VCO/VCA/ADSR/VCF
etc?

I know there must be some favorites out there that
work good.
