Hey Boys and Girls,

Magic Smoke has a new Thomas Henry book available. We're experimenting
with a new print service to produce printed hardcopy versions, and we
hope everybody likes the results. The new book is Thomas' "An Analog
Synthesizer for the 21st Century." Here's a short description:

"A collection of schematics for a complete, accurate and versatile
analog synthesizer. Designed by well-known synthesizer guru, Thomas
Henry, this is a comprehensive set of plans guaranteed to delight and
challenge the advanced DIY enthusiast."

Basically, unlike Thomas' other books, this isn't a step by step book
with detailed instructions. Rather, this is a set of schematics for a
variety of modules and is meant for the more advanced DIYer. This
includes schematics and parts lists for:
*Power Supply
*XR-2206 based VCO (with some neat VC wave skew features)
*LM-13700 based VCO
*State Variable VCF
*VCA
*ADSR
*VC Noise Source
*VC Phase Shifter
*Deluxe LFO (with the features of Thomas' older Super Controller and then some)
*Sample and Hold
*Along with a suggested Patchover scheme for creating a "normalized"
synth somewhat like the ARP2600 where the synth can be run without
patch cords but those connections can be easily overridden with patch
cords if desired.

The book can be previewed and ordered at
http://www.lulu.com/content/1065518

You can also just go to Lulu.com and search for "synthesizer," we come
up first on the list. The printed version is $20 + shipping, and
represents years of work and refinement by Thomas Henry. If you check
out the preview, don't be put off by the rather 'grainy' appearance of
the first schematic (power supply). This is a result of the preview
conversion, but the printed version looks very very nice. The book
also comes with a spiral bound backing so that it will lie flat on
your work bench.

Thanks for your time and bandwidth. Servo out!
