Years ago I salvaged an amplifier that had suffered a similar fate.
Evidently the spill occurred when the amplifier was powered up, as all
the output transistors were blown. About $8 at the local distributor
took care of that.....

I can't remember what I used to clean the circuit board but it was
pretty benign stuff -- either isopropyl alcohol or aerosol flux remover.
More likely the former. It didn't take a whole lot of effort, either.
Immersing the board in isopropyl for a while may or may not eat any of
the plastic parts, but what've you got to lose?

I recently revived a (modern, expensive!) laptop which suffered an
incursion of tea, which had an adverse effect on the DC input circuitry.
Luckily, a motorised toothbrush + isopropyl did the trick!

Just remember to wait until all the fluids evaporate before applying
power, though.....
