[sdiy] Re: Cricklewood Connector Pinout?

Ok, replying to my own post to elaborate on what I've found and what I
still need to know. The EMS blog has the user manual for the Synthi
which gives the cinch jones pinout. I presume that the numbers
specified for the pins are the same as those written on the cinch
jones connector and that the diagram matches the connector on the VCS
as you are looking at it? The diagram should also coincide with the
DK1 connector as you are looking at it?

http://www.thesynthi.de/index.php?/categories/4-EMS-Manuals

Two of the legs are labeled as unused. I know that the Cricklewood has
a VCO and a VCA but what isn't clear to me is how they interface to
the connector. I'm guessing that the gate output goes to the input
marked for triggering the EG and that the VCO is only pitch
controllable from the keyboard? The switches then control what gets
routed to inputs 1 and 2.

BTW: If you haven't seen one there's some close-up pictures on my flickr site:

I'm also assuming that the VCA is fed the dynamic voltage on its
control input and that is its only use. That is, if you choose to
route cv and velocity into the VCS you get no use out of the onboard
VCO/VCA?

>From the doepfer website I get the following.

"VCO1 and VCO2 of the EMS VCS3 use the very unusual 0.32V/octave scale
and VCO3 uses 0.26V/octave"

Is it correct to assume that the primary use of VCO3 is as an LFO and
that the keyboard generates 0.32V/oct ? For testing purposes this
wouldn't really matter other than checking the calibration of the
keyboard.

I want to do a good job of testing and verifying that this is 100%
functional so anything anyone can add is appreciated.

Thanks,
Daryl
