andrew,

yes on the pin-outs... in/out pairs for the gates are 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 9/8, 11/10, and 13/12.  

there's a handy stripboard layout for a dual WSG here: http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7074.  uses the second half of the 40106 to create the second circuit.  i've built it & it works.
