[sdiy] Driving Relays from an LFO

For reference; I'm writing this email because I have some of this
technology http://www.loscha.com/forsale/relay.jpg (it was on ebay, I
was the seller, and I have more, which I wish to use for
"stuff")......
Ok, so, I've got an LFO, say, a 555 based something or other, or a
CGS58 or similar (http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgs58_lfo.html) and
I want to make the square waveform drive some relays.
I obviously don't want to just start plugging relay coils into my
circuits willy nilly cause I don't want to cook them. I know the 555
is a player, and can handle the juice, but, If I had a Moog, or a
roland system X00, I'd be pretty foolish to just plug relays in.
Example application
audio in goes into relay;
signal switches between 2 different guitar pedals
signals mixed in together through to audio out
I know that doing this sort of routing is not best done with relays,
that complimentary pairs of 4066s would be better -- use less current,
not have a millisecond delay time and so on, but, I have a bunch of
these boards with relays & banana plugs in them, and I'm trying to
find a use for them.
thanks for any suggestions, ladies and gents.
best wishes;
Edward r Jones
