I did a PIC based quantizer based on Chris List's
circuit.  Mine has one deficiency: it chatters between
quantized voltages due to noise.  Comparator
hysteresis reduces the problem but it's a tradeoff in
accuracy.  I wonder if chattering is a major problem
with C List's.

Conversion time is fast (depends on the meaning of
fast).  It's expandable by changing the code a bit and
adding more sample/holds.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd use an
ADC/Micro/DAC chain.  Then deal with noise and chatter
in software.
