+1 on what Jim Eastman said.
here in Australia there is no mass market electronics manufacturing,
but there is quite a bit of small and medium run electronic device
manufacture, for controllers & sensors & data loggers etc, all
kinds of industrial application. And all this stuff has analog input.
Now it is true that many EE schools have largely gone over to
computing, eg DSP, but I have to say, some beginning EEs who did
analog fx work wiht me, have found the experience suprisingly
helpful in their later jobs.
A wise man once said that "the best time to teach something is when the
person learning wants to know it". That's why Aaron's synth diy classes
are probably doing some good.
