Hi Steffen,
Center tapped pots have a fourth terminal connected to the center of the
pot's resistive track.
I like to use them on voltage sources for pitch, etc. You connect V+ and
V- to the ends of the pot and ground to the center tap. This assures you
that you have 0V output at the center of the rotation This is particularly
nice if you have a center-detent; it makes sure that you don't have 0.2V or
some odd error at the center position
