is based on the National LM2917 V to F.

But, these things are really designed for tachometer applications, where
you want to get a DC indication from a frequency. Or the other way around,
for converting a slowly varying voltage to an AC signal that is easy to
route
through a noisy environment. I think micros have done these things out of
work,
And they are all linear.(in the sense of f directly proportinal to v)
