Nah, use linear VCOs under microprocessor control. No manual tuning, no 
trimming, no drift. All you need is a non ancient MCU (AVR, ARM, basically 
anything that was invented after early 80s) and a high resolution DAC (but 
not high accuracy, DC and gain error can be huge without problems).
