Thanks for the insight Eric.  I rechecked things and was in error.  
THere is a ground ref 1K on that one also.  So they must have kept the 
4034's input 1K resistors to ground on this rendition of the 4035 then, 
rather than the 3.3K ones shown in the diagram.  They are also precision 
resistors but that's of no consequence in that location obviously.  
Probably just had a lot of stock on hand :-) Thanks again, -bob
