I've done home-made pressure sensors using the black conductive foam 
that's often used to protect DIP ICs from ESD. Just cut out a small 
section and sandwich it between sheets of foil. Varying pressure => 
varying resistance between the foil contacts. You should be able to make 
it as small as you want.

Calibration may be a problem though - kinda hard to control the range.
