   Hi Cole,

This is normal for any type of rosin core solder. The only difference
is that the Radio Shack stuff is made from the slag leftovers (dross)
from working electronics industries.
Whenever you have an electronics house with a wave-soldering machine,
at the end of the day (or at multiple times), the solder in the machine
is cleaned, which removes all of the dross (or burnt crud). This can
have a good amount of useable solder still in it, which is then sold
back to reclaimation companies, who then melt the usable solder out and
remake it into sellable solder, usually at Radio Shack, or Sears, etc.
Basically this means that you might have less than pure solder
(possibly with a high copper content), but it will still be quite
useable for what you are doing with it.

   Cheers,

   Tony
