Yikes !!! you are going to shellac ~before~ the stain ???

I don't think that will work / have never heard of doing it.

If I'm ~all wet~ about this, please enlighten me. I  think that if you
tried the shellac as a 'sanding sealer' it would queer the stain 
application...
