Ahhh you are 'batting 1000' ... another lie. It would probably track
slide guitar 'almost' better. Once it acquired, the system should
track better than discrete jumps (frets). If you went far beyond
the fretboard you might run out of range...

I'm sort of audiophile (heh heh) challenged at the moment. I'll see what

My secret technique is to ~not~ drive a VCO... I derive a sawtooth wave
direct
from the guitar string... so there is very little tracking or
acquisition delay.
I'd need to get a really fast player to try and outrun it... I can't do
it myself
I will probably put the schematics up online soon... I'm pretty certain
that no one
will want to try and do it commercailly from my work... its a really BIG
circuit.
I have not seen a clear schematic of the Roland GR-500 system but I
think it has
some similar features
