That's been my thought on other software.  There are a number of interesting
things that have come out as VST plugins that I wish instead were available
as a separate rackmount hardware module.  I wish those developers weren't so
focussed only on the computers.

5.8Mb is also way too much.  Physical modeling algorithms are tiny pieces of
code.  Perhaps like all software these days, most of that memory is the
graphical user interface.  I seem to remember the Pianoteq site said that
the user can adjust the levels of the first 8 harmonics.  That got me
wondering if the thing is physical modeling or additive synthesis.  They are
vague.  They just say things like one of their programmers/mathematicians
came up with the computer model.  "Model" can mean just about anything.
