[sdiy] Akai x7000 schematic/dilemma

Hi Guys,

I have one of these and I had planned to update the floppy drive a couple
years ago and never got around to it. I contacted AKAI and even though this
keyboard is not supported (its 20 years old) they still sent me what
schematics they had. These came in the form of paper schematics. Not sure if
they would still be able to send this. The nice part was that they paid for
all the shipping/mailing of these papers which I thought was quite decent of
them.

This sampler uses a Z80 processor and had I think about 384 KB ram. It also
had a 16 kb EEPROM and one next to useless 2.8 inch floppy drive. Sounded
pretty decent for a 12-bit sampler as it was great for lo-fi stuff and
seemed to added the bottom end. (still works except the floppy drive)

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner but let me know if anyone's is
interested and I'll take a picture of the schematics.

Hope this helps

Jeff

Anyone have a schematic for one of these?

I have one, apparently working, that's taking up too much space. I haven't
used it in years. It has little value, and I'm debating stripping it for the
keyboard to use with a modular or simply offloading it. Anyone done anything
interesting (SDIY-wise) with one of these?
