I use MIDI-Ox succesfully for sending MIDI messages byte by byte, but it
wont work with all MIDI drivers - some refuse to send a single data byte
without having a suitable status byte sent at the same time (i.e. in the
same API call).
It certainly works with my Midisport 2x2.
