I would avoid the CNY17 series. Although they seem fast enough on paper, 
there is a great deal of variation in speed between batches. Data skew 
is the main enemy here, that is, rise time and fall times of the output 
are significantly different.

I used the CNY17-3 in the very first versions of the tbDAC and midiDAC 
midi-CV convertors. Most people had no problems, but some reported 
problems with heavy midi data or long through chains.
