[sdiy] Roland 80017a clone and "refurbishing"?

SRS is claiming to "refurbished"  80017a's for 30 pounds + send in  
your old chip + shipping.  I am trying to imagine the frankenstein  
that comes back to you.  Isn't there a capacitor inside the epoxy  
that goes bad, or something like that?

I saw a bit of talk about this guy in the archive.  Anyone actually  
heard his replacement?  Even if it were "different" than a 80017a if  
you replaced all the chips it would at least sound consistent between  
voices (assuming a proper calibration), right?
