My method also. The PC board that matches the front panel is made early. I use clip leads
to the wires for the module. The last thing finished is the front panel and mount.

I thought I had a picture of ah entire module with out the front panel attached, but I
can't find it. The faceplates are quite brittle. The few times I've dropped and broke one,
I just make a new face plate. Removing the four mounting nuts lets the front panel board
be completely removed and then it's easy to install on the new faceplate.
