 > Going back 25 years to when I was a nipper and didn't know much
(still don't), I got hold of an electric fire.

I did this too. I was about eight, and I wanted to know what electricity
felt like...

There was an empty slot on the old bar fire, so I switched it on and
grabbed either end of the terminals.

240V across the chest.

Won't be doing that again I thought after the pain and shock subsided.

Back on topic somewhat: A couple of years later from said incident, I
took my slinky spring and tied it to the top of the stairs. I then
dangled it down to the ground floor. I connected a piezo ear piece
jammed it in the bottom end of the spring and connected this to my
Denshi kit set up as an amplifier. I was rather pleased with the
resultant noise - which was akin to something in the Star Wars film I
had seen earlier that year.
