Maybe the microprocessor approach is simple to you, Antti!
And I would agree, it seems the logical way to go....

but, it isn't ALL that simple, when it comes to getting it to
modulate "sufficiently fast" for FM.
And, it isn't all that simple when one wants "apparently stepless"
LFO modulation of VCOs.....

and it isn't even cheap! once one accepts that micros with 10 bit A to D
won't cut it.
