I guessed it might be. I read somewhere that it is possible with care to 
service it, but I can also imagine a big "sproing" noise followed by shims 
and clips and loadsof bits of phosphor-bronze strip littering the workbench 
... I had best tread carefully.

That's a very useful tip - looks like I had best get a manual off Robin. I
