Hi Laurie,

First off, congrats on the new Ken Stone modules!

A recent thread on AH brought up the lack of standards for mounting
holes and panel widths in Eurorack synth gear. Luckily, there IS a
very well documented standard for VME ("Eurorack") gear, it's just
that not everybody chooses to follow it. There's a drawing on the
Doepfer site that shows the VME standard dimensions pretty well. The
same drawing can be found on the Knurr and Schroff web sites (although
they make you hunt around for it).

As far as control spacing (Note: this is what I'm designing to at
Magic Smoke, so this is just my preference rather than an IEC or VME
standard), I use a .75" horizontal spacing and .90" vertical spacing.
This allows five rows in a 3U space, and four columns in a 16HP panel.
Note: using .75" horizontal spacing means that the control centers are
.9 apart (horizontally) from one module to the next. I find that this
makes the panel graphics less crowded at the right and left edges. I
also like the .90" vertical spacing better than .80". Easier to get
your fingers in there, but still plenty of room at the top and bottom
edges for components.Basically, this is a slight modification of the
.80" grid seen on Doepfer stuff, but I've done a lot of "look and
feel" mockups and I think I've come up with a better solution. Again,
IMHO. If I haven't explained this very well, let me know and I can
send a drawing.
