[sdiy] Nicolet Instrument Scope

Hey All,

This is my first of hopefully many posts to the list.

Another option to consider is a pico scope. I bought one a while back and
I'm happy with it. The software was a little buggy but pretty solid now and
constantly improving. It's a usb2 dual oscilloscope called the PicoScope
3224 12 bit 10 MHz: http://www.picotech.com/oscilloscope-specifications.html
There are a bunch of really cheap 1 channel probes that could do the trick
like : http://www.picotech.com/handheld-oscilloscope.html

You can plugin it into any computer and have a big screen and log data
straight to hard drive. Since the one I have is dual I could do XY plots
which helped me characterise the asymmetry of the diode clipper stage of the
SH101 I have. Thanks for Antti for helping me with both the suggestion of
buying a pico scope, and help with where to put the probes etc in measuring
the diodes.

Nicolet scopes were very good, but very
old. May be hard to keep running... and the bandwidth is quite low by modern
standards.
(mine was only 1MHz...)

They are a big as a cow...

I'd buy but only if you can prove its working first... I think the price is
a little high as well... I gave mine to a good home for free (and I got it
for free as well)

If it does not work, open it up and try plugging all the cards back in the
sockets...

Its REALLY good for slow stuff life LFO, EGs etc
