[sdiy] modern CEMs?

The topic of remanufacturing CEMs pops up every quarter. I guess the
point here is: get enough people together to make the setup costs
affordable, and there should be no problem.

However, with 10 people buying 8 or 16 chips each it's just too
expensive. An absolute minimum run is probably ~1000 pieces, better
10000. If the market would be still that big, I'm quite sure that Paul
S. already would have done one or two runs of the most wanted chips.

Furthermore, the question remains whether it is useful to still go the
analog way these days with FPGAs being around for next to nothing,
but where you could easily slam a 64 voice system in.
