Sweeet. I might get one of these myself - just for the fun of it.
Xilinx plays the "released" game very nastily, mainly because the FPGA
market is so hot. Usually they "announce" the product when they have a
successful test run of wafers in their fab plant, before they even have a
good sample run done. Production is a whole other matter. Things vary based
on package, gate density, cost fluctuations in grain and petrochemical
markets, etc. 3E's have been available in sample quantity from VARs for over
a year - I designed a Spartan 3E into a few of my client's products and
they've been happily running along - they just haven't been able to go to
production yet because of demand.
