[sdiy] Output Voltage?

(also cc'ing to list in case this info is useful)

Typical input levels for audio equipment are:

'Consumer' -10dBV which is ~0.9V ptp
'Pro-audio' +4dBu which is ~3.5V ptp

'Prosumer' gear could be either of the above 2 standards, but more
usually is +4dBu, or switchable between the 2.

In practice however (especially for mixing desks and studio type sound
cards) most devices actually have a bit of headroom to spare above these
levels. For example my PC audio interface FSR is as follows:

In '-10dBV mode' the actual FSR input level is +2dBV which is ~3.6V ptp
In '+4dBu mode' the actual FSR input level is +13dBu which is ~9.8V ptp
It also has a 'Low Gain mode' where the FSR input level is +19dBu which
is ~19.5V ptp
