As always a good question. I originally intended to just use the buffers on
the LM13700s but I found that loading them was causing distortion. Since I
had the bias where I wanted it I just tacked on the Op-Amp buffers. I'm sure
that with a bit more time and effort I could have eliminated the LM13700
buffers. I just got the circuit where it sounded right and operated near
ground and said eureka :-)
Another thing people may notice is that you can just control the pan voltage
if you want to. That's why I put the voltages on the schematic in case
people want to tap in there and change something to get the functionality
they need/want.
